HP ProBook 640 G3 "Could Not Contact Clone Deploy Server"

  1. 5 months ago

Hello, our company is trying to mass deploy ProBook 640 G3's and we keep getting the error "Could not contact clone deploy server". This issue does not occur on G2's or other devices. We have even tried making a new clone deploy server to circumvent the issue but it was unsuccessful. Is this simply a bug or does something need to be done to fix this issue?

It's probably missing the driver for the nic. Have you tried the 4.10.1 kernel?

  3. Hello,

This is a fresh install of CloneDeploy on a brand new server, we have also verified that we are using the 4.10.1 kernel and we are.

We need to get that machine into the client console.
In your boot menu options, change the boot image to debug, create a new menu.
PXE boot that machine and select any of the CloneDeploy options.
Once at the shell run the following commands and post a pic of each.

    lspci -nn
    ip link set eth0 up
    udhcpc -i eth0
    dmesg | grep e1000e
  5. Attached images. Apparently eth0 does not exist.

  6. Redownloaded the kernel and it started working fine.
