W10x64 GPT / EFI - The protective MBR's 0xEE partition is oversized!

  1. 5 months ago

With Windows 10x64 v1709 (I think same issue on 1607 & 1703 too) when we boot UEFI / EFI on some computers, with Windows default disk schema, we are getting the following error: "The protective MBR's 0xEE partition is oversized!" then it the filesystem is attempted to be corrected. I am not able to track the issue down to if its a real issue or just a bug. This doesn't happen with MBR based legacy partitions. I found the thread about the powercfg /h off thing but its still throwing the error on the machines. Anyone else seeing this or have any ideas if its a real error or just something to be ignored? Here is the disk layout:

Still getting the Protective MBR error....

The protective MBR's 0xEE partition is oversized! Auto-repairing.

I LOVE Clone Deploy and everyone'e effort(s) on the project! Any advice would be helpful with this as I don't want to clone hundreds of defective images!

It's nothing to worry about, it's more informational than an error. EFI/GPT will always say this.

  3. Thank you! Will ignore it!
