Issue netbooting

  1. last year

So i wen through and followed the new doc for configuring netboot you just released (Thank you for that by the way) and can now actually boot to netboot. The issue i an running into though is i get the spinning globe, which is normal. after a few seconds i get the progress bar as if the client is booting into netboot, but then it never actually boots to the NBI. The progress bar goes fast about half way then comes to a crawl...eventually the progress bar will even fill up but never go any further. This was tested using an iMac, Macbook Air and a 2010 white macbook. All have the same result. It almost seems like maybe it's having trouble uncompressing/mounting the NBI? The OS i used for the NBI is the latest build of El Cpitan, 10.11.5.

Whoops, my sample root-path string is incorrect.
    You need to remove web
    http://10.1.5.224:80/clonedeploy/web

My dev environment uses clonedeploy/web instead of just clonedeploy

Typically that means it can't find the nbi. If you copy and paste the root path from the config.ini file and fill in the correct id folder, into a web browser does it work?

  3. No, i get the following:

    Detailed Error Information
    Module IIS Web Core
    Notification MapRequestHandler
    Handler StaticFile
    Error Code 0x80070002
    Requested URL http://10.1.5.224:80/clonedeploy/web/public/macos_nbis/0064/NetBoot.dmg
    Physical Path C:\Program Files (x86)\clonedeploy\web\web\public\macos_nbis\0064\NetBoot.dmg
    Logon Method Anonymous
    Logon User Anonymous

  4. Also if i try that link from a different computer i just get site can't be reached.

  6. Yup, that did the trick, Thanks! One other thing i changed and i'm not sure if i had to or not was that i enabled directory browsing on the NBI folder 0064 in IIS. Just tossing that out there in case anyone else runs into an issue.

    Thanks again!
