ProxyDHCP using seperate DHCP server

  • I started using CD on my network with a seperate DHCP Server, I have proxy dhcp installed on my CD as well. I can only seem to get clients to pxe boot if I add a bootfile in my DHCP 67 option. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the point of proxy was to act a dynamic bootloader? Like I said, everything works great when I input a bootfile manually, but I'd prefer to not have to change that value all the time.

    Thanks in advance!

  • When you run in debug mode can you see the pxe boot requests?

  • Not pxe boot requests. It stops after "dhcp messages received, queued for Processing." It never tried to get a bootfile.

  • I would use the latest version 2.0.0. Disable the existing service on your CD server. Make sure option 60, 66, and 67 are blank on your dhcp server. Make sure dhcp is not running on your CD Server. Add an ip helper for your CD server if you are using multiple vlans / subnets.

  • I had no idea a new version was released. That did it! Thank you sir.
