Im wondering when Clonedeploy for Freenas Coral (10.-) will be ready?
The Docker system seems way easier for users to set up now
Hey clonedeploy, Thank your for your tips.
first i tried step 2 which did not even clone for more than 1 second.
Then i've changed the compression algorithm to Gzip which actually fixed the problem completely.
Now i have to wait and see if my collegue experiances any problems with the client.
if not then we shall go ahead and push updates using clonedeploy in the future!!
Much thanks and See you Arround!
I have received the same error to multiple clients
which would imply that its either the server or image.
However the first test image i've generated deployed succesfully.
The broken images can boot but miss a few gb's of data killing some software in the process.
Now, ive replaced the hdd/ram on the server, replaced the ram on refclient and ran memcheck.
reimaged the ref client without any luck.
Checkdisk on refclient did not find any problems either.
My collegue thinks the error might have something to do with some software with hidden weakbits partitions. however he could not tell me if any of the software used had such partitions.
on thursday I will continue to experiment to see if i can find the problem myself.
If not i guess we will have to make use of the old cloning method.
I might be missing something here but for clonedeploy on windows there's a simple tftpgui to setup the TFTP.
With it you can change the dhcp settings.
For example set the pxeboot.0 ect.
How and where does one change these settings when using clonedeploy in freenas?
Currently a client is not able to find the pxeboot.0 file which makes sense because i was not able to configure any of this yet, because it is not discribed in the installation docs for freenas installation.
ISP modem that handels DHCP with only an option to turn it off.
Powerline lan kit.
Managed network switch.
I've been analyzing clonedeploy in my spare time and recently started at an internship @ a school where they are in the mids of
upgrading some computers in a isolated engineering lab.
So i've been presenting clonedeploy as a better option than the dos cloning option they are using at the moment.
With the old method they clone a hdd 1 on 1.
After they saw the wonderful workings of clonedeploy my
enthusiastic manager asked me an awesome question.
''Could I connect a Cloned hdd to the CDserver and have clonedeploy deploy the disk onto clients?''
The only way i could see this work is to plug the drive into a client, upload and deploy to clients.
Or am i overlooking a functionality of CD?
Could anyone help or explain to me how one adds an option to the pxeboot menu.
For example adding memtest to the menu...
Could one use the folllowing guide or does clonedeploy handle the code differently in the editor?
